Debbie Bailey and Jay Roberts live in a beautifully maintained historic home on Pine Street. Although their home is impeccably decorated year-round, they transform it into something spectacular for the Christmas season.
Debbie and Jay are a decorating team with Jay rigging the lights and Debbie adding special holiday flair to each room.
“He’s the nuts and bolts guy, I put it up and he gets electricity to it,” Debbie said.
One of the most breathtaking scenes in the home is the front parlor with a large Christmas tree decorated from top to bottom in gold and red and various bird ornaments. Everywhere you turn there is something beautiful to look upon.
Debbie has various holiday collections that she groups together throughout the home. One corner features Santa Claus figurines; a whole brigade of nutcrackers are lined up on a bureau. She also has several different Nativity scenes spread throughout the home, including a scene made by her mother. Wreaths, garland, candles, reindeer and stars are a major theme and are tastefully displayed.
In the formal dining room, large holiday-themed suncatchers hang from the wall of windows.
Debbie said the beautiful pieces were handpainted by a friend in Colorado.
“There are different ones for every season,” she said.
Debbie and Jay also have several antique pieces, including lighted melamine mice and Santas that they collected from antique shops when they lived in Leadville, Colorado. A guest bedroom also features an intricate quilt made from the curtains from the movie theatre in Leadville.
The couple decorates for most holidays with Halloween and Christmas being their biggest projects.
“In January we have snowmen, then we do Valentines and Easter and Fourth of July,” Debbie said.
“Halloween we do a little more including a haunted village that takes up the entire dining table. Then we do a fall/Thanksgiving theme and then Christmas. It’s fun.”
