Happy Spring!

A great big thank you to all who attended our Celebrate Women event in April. Our guests, the vendors, a great meal catered by Yankton Hy-Vee and the awesome facilities at Riverfront Event Center and Dakota Theater all helped make the evening perfect! We all enjoyed the entertaining and inspiring message from our speaker, Melanie Brown. We could not continue to do this without the help of our three major sponsors Yankton Medical Clinic, P.C., Yankton Hy-Vee and First Dakota National Bank - our thanks and appreciation to them.

In this issue we welcome new correspondent Julie Eickhoff. I think you will enjoy her fresh perspective, choice of topics and the sincerity that shines through in her writing style. Welcome Julie, we look forward to seeing more of your contributions to Her Voice!

Since my “Meandering” space is limited in this issue due to the abundance of great pictures and content I will only be able to share a few funnies with you.

As I get a bit older (celebrating my 40th class reunion this summer in Rock Rapids, IA) I couldn’t help but get a chuckle when I got this email. Here’s a few 1960’s hits renamed to accommodate us aging baby boomers:

Bobby Darin – Splish, Splash, I was Havin’ a Flash!

Herman’s Hermits – Mrs. Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Walker

Ringo Starr – I Get By With a Little Help From My Depends

Roberta Flack – The First Time Ever I Forgot Your Face

And a personal favorite…

Willie Nelson – On the Commode Again!

Smile, it makes people wonder what you’ve been up to! (Wait, maybe that’s just me!) Anyway, have a safe and happy spring, see you in July!
