Hurray For Fall Her/His Voice Readers!

Autumn is such a beautiful time of year with the trees and their myriad of colors.

We are so blessed to live in this part of the country where we truly get to witness the seasons and what each one brings.

This issue of Her/His Voice is once again packed full of inspiring, entertaining and informative stories. We hope you enjoy them as much as we enjoy bringing them to you.

If you know of anyone (or yourself) whose story our readers would enjoy please feel free to send it in for consideration in one of our upcoming magazines.

I came across this and thought it was worth sharing…for humorous reasons. This is really a sign of how much has changed over the years. From the 1950’s to today.

This appeared in a 1950 Home Economics book and I have revised it just a bit.

Tips To Look After Your Husband

Have dinner ready

It suggests we should plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready on time. It further reads: this is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.

Prepare yourself

Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work weary people. Be a little happy and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.

Prepare the children

Take a few minutes to wash the children’s hands and faces (if they are small), comb their hair and if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.

Minimize the noise

At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of washer, dryer, dishwasher or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet.

Some don’ts

Don’t greet him with problems or complaints. Don’t complain if he’s late for dinner. You should count this as minor compared with what he might have gone through that day.

Make the evening his

Never complain if he doesn’t take you out to dinner or to other entertaining things. Instead, try to understand his days of strain and pressure, his need to come home and relax.

The goal

Try to make your home a place of peace and order where your husband can renew himself in body and spirit.

Well, now that I’ve shared these 1950’s tips with all…ladies, talk amongst yourselves…lol! I’m pretty sure a lot of women today would have a thing or two to say about these tips but I’ll let you all form your own opinions.

Blessings to all,

Micki
