Happy Spring!

I can only speak for myself when I say I am so ready for spring and summer. I know, it’s been a fairly mild winter and I’m not really complaining. I’m just ready for some warm temperatures and sunshine.

It seems as I get older, things I thought were so important really aren’t all that important anymore.

A clean house – why? I used to spend every Saturday cleaning the house from top to bottom.

Now I look at Saturdays as precious time when I’m not working. I can visit with the kids; go see friends, maybe cook something for the next week. Or just sit and read a good book. All things that are much more valuable to me than a clean house.

A home cooked hot meal for dinner every night – why? Sure, I love to cook and still do a lot, however for just the two of us; sometimes it’s easier to pop out for a quick burger or pizza. We certainly don’t eat as much as we used to so at the right place we are pretty cheap dates…lol.

Make the bed every morning – why? I always remember my Dad telling my Mom – “Maybelle, why do you worry so much about making that bed every morning, we’re just going to crawl right into it tonight again?” Well, guess what? My Mom still made the bed – but not every morning and now that’s me too. I know it’s kind of silly but when I don’t make the bed – I walk in and look at it and just smile, because I know darn well my Dad is smiling about it too.

I don’t want to sound morbid and I know I’m only 63 years old, however I recall a day not that many years ago when I’d look at somebody who was 40 and think, wow – they’re really getting up there… Now, 40’s just a kid! Lol! But the 60’s have made me look at things a bit differently like some of the things I mentioned above.

I don’t really have a “bucket” list because then I’d probably want to buy a bucket to put it in but I do have some things I’d like to do while I’m here on earth. I’ve always wanted to go to one of those tropical places and enjoy the three ‘B’s’ as I’ve dubbed them, a beach, a book and a beverage. Doesn’t that sound delightful? To just relax would be fabulous!

I’d love to go on another family trip with our children and grandchildren. We’ve gone on a few of them and we always have so much fun. Sometimes when we’re all together I love to just sit back and listen to them interact and the laughter they all share. It’s priceless!

Meanderings - To meander means to wander aimlessly on a winding roundabout course. And I give you the definition because that’s why we call this ‘Micki’s Meanderings’. I pretty much just wander through random thoughts that I share with you that I hope you enjoy.

Take care and enjoy life!
