Also on the main floor is a bathroom for the guests and the
laundry room. And the master bedroom is also on the main floor. The
headboard of their bed is actually wood from the farm she grew up on.
There is also a footstool that was her mom’s and wedding presents of
her parent’s hang on the wall as a nice personal touch. There is a large
walk-in closet that is another of Julie’s favorite features. Her husband’s
brother built their house and likes to joke that the house was “designed
by the closet.” Julie knew she wanted a closet that was big enough to
hold everything but also big enough that when she walked in she didn’t
touch clothes on either side. The master bathroom features double
sinks and a walk-in shower.
Going to the basement of the home, family photos line the ledge of
the steps along with two military flags. At the base of the steps is a shelf
built from wood from the farm that hold Julie’s husband’s collection
of duck decoys. Julie decorated the upstairs and her husband did the
downstairs. The basement features a collection of stuffed animals,
deer he shot and a beaver their niece’s son trapped. Also a collection
of decoys and other odd’s and end’s. There are two bedrooms and a
bathroom downstairs and also a room
for Julie to work on her crafts and
scrapbooks.
Back upstairs, there is a nice patio
off the back of the house to enjoy
the view and wildlife with a pathway
that leads to the shop. With the
plow, there are pheasants that her
husband made himself. Also in the
back is where Julie’s garden is where
she has lettuce, peppers, tomatoes,
cucumbers, gourds, and pumpkins
planted. Though they sit not far from
the highway, they enjoy a quiet and
peaceful yard that gets its fair share of
wild life visitors. n
